I have a colleague who has OS X 10.6 on her computer and wants to upgrade to Lion. Apple has downloads only for Lion upgrades which will not work unless you already have Lion installed. Is there any way to download Lion?

If she has Snow Leopard (10.6.8), she can go into the Mac App Store and download/install Lion from there. I'm not on my Mac at the moment, but I'm pretty sure it's still available even though ML is the newest OS.

No. Lion is no longer available for download. She will have to download and install Mountain Lion instead. $19.99 from the Mac App store. She will also need an Apple ID and a valid credit card.

G'day and welcome to the forums.

She needs to be upgraded to Snow Leopard OS X.6.8 and Lion was available through the App Store however with the release of Mountain Lion it may have been removed. Depending on the specs of her computer which you have not listed, upgrading to Mountain Lion, OS X.8, may be the go.
