Caps Lock Stuck?

So I'm buying a Macbook Pro off of a friend. It's very lightly used, but the only problem is that caps lock can't be switched off. The button is not physically jammed, it just won't turn off when you press or hold it (the light stays on as well). He's tried restarting it to no avail either. He talked to someone at the Apple store, who suggested buying a usb keyboard to use instead.
Do you think this is a fixable problem? He's offering me an very good deal, but I am not OK with using a usb keyboard on my Macbook.

How good a friend is he? Ask him if he ever spilled any liquids on the keyboard or anywhere else on the MBP. We get a lot of inquiries about spills and this sounds awful familiar.
