I have a white macbook, circa 2006. It has Intel Core Duo 2.16 ghz, 4 mb L2 cache, and 2 gb 667 mhz ram. I don't really want to spend a bunch of money on a 6 year old macbook. I found a 2 disc set of OEM install dvds from a 2009 macbook pro. Can I use these for a clean install or even install over my existing 10.4.1.1? Thanks in advance.

No you cannot use the two-disk set of gray disks meant for a different computer model (MacBook Pro in this case). They are model specific.

If you want/need a Snow Leopard install disk ($29 bucks)...you need to call Apple. And I do mean call Apple on the phone...since Snow Leopard disks are no longer available at the Apple online Store.

Thanks for the quick reply. I thought I was out of luck with Apple, as I did not see it in there store.

A lot of folks just like you were thinking the same thing...since Apple stopped selling Snow Leopard after they released OS 10.8 Mountain Lion. But we have had some folks report (with success)...that if you call Apple directly...they still have Snow Leopard install disks available (even though they re no longer available in stores).

I just got off the phone with Apple. They do indeed have the upgrade disc available, $29, and will be here next week. Thanks for your help!

I'm glad they are now motivated ... considering that Snow Leopard came out three years ago this month ... :)
