Pop up window constantly appearing???

Hello people,

I am hoping that someone out there is able to help me with the problem i have on my iMac as it is driving me crazy....

For some time now, a blank safari pop up window appears now and again for no reason. It has a really long address that makes no sense so i am confident it is not a website. I've tried everything from turning off pop ups, trying switching to firefox, websites, youtube etc but to no avail.

I have learned in the last month that i can make this pop up window appear itself by going to dashboard and clicking somewhere on the screen - this automatically brings up this pop up screen.

I have pasted the address below that appears in the window.

Check your dashboard widgets and , If you're a member, you're google gadgets.
It seems like a google gadget (opensocial.googleusercontent.com/gadgets/ifr?url=http://www.google.com/friendconnect/gadgets/members.xml) wants to go here (parent=http://www.tekkaus.com/) and show you a christmas card.

Hi Cradom, thanks for the reply.

I have had a look at what you said but there is no google widgets - I don't use dashboard anyhow. I have also used finder to look for anything with google and removed anything with a trace that might be linked....sketch up, google earth. Needless to say it is still happening.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Little late but I just saw this reply, sorry.
Look in ~/Library/Widgets and let us know what is there?
Also look in /Library/Widgets. (That's 2 different places)
