iCloud problem

Apologies if i've posted this in the wrong place..

I've just set up an iCloud email address on my mac, but when i've gone to my phone and looked under 'Mail, Contacts, Calendars', under 'Accounts' it already has iCloud as well as my Gmail account. They're both using my Gmail email address though. How can i get my new iCloud email address under the iCloud account bit on my iPhone? Is it because my Apple ID uses my gmail account? If so, how do i change it to my iCloud account?

As simple as it should have been for me to get up and running with iCloud, i'm now pretty confused by the whole thing.

Sorry, i may not have explained myself that well in the original post.

My apple ID uses my gmail account but i want to set up my iCloud email (@me) on my iPhone. However when i try to add an account, it already has iCloud and Gmail - both of which use my Gmail account. When i try to add my iCloud email account, it requires an Apple ID.

I'm not sure how to get around this, any help is appreciated, thanks!
