This discussion might be more appropriate in another section of the forum but I wasn't sure where so I'm starting here.

My issue is that my daughter receives exactly one spam message per day. Every day I click the unsubscribe button and am taken to a nearly identical unsubscribe page where I go through the process. The next day I receive exactly one more piece of spam, hit the unsubscribe button, etc. It's so consistent that I know it has to be the same company every darned day. How can I get to the bottom of this and stop it?

Never respond to spam, including clicking on 'unsubscribe' links. Many times, that only tells the sender that "hey, there's a live one at this address".

It's best to just use your email program's own spam filtering. If you're using Mail, just click the "Junk" button when you open the email.

One of the nice things about most online e-mail services is their spam protection. I use my GMail account a lot and I've found that as time has gone on, every time I get a piece of spam, I mark it as such and those types of e-mails get caught and I don't see it. After many years now, I don't see a single piece of spam that's sent directly to me but my spam folder is just choked with spam at almost 100 messages every 10-15 minutes..

The worst thing you can do with these messages as @cwa107 correctly said is to respond to it, that'll move you from the "possibly active" bucket to the "here's a live one" bucket in a lot of spam lists..

Selling valid e-mail address list between spammers is a HUGE business..
