Panic Report

Hi - New to the forum. I have been having trouble with my macbook for a while now and it is almost unusable for something. I keep getting a black box of doom that insists that I need to restart my computer followed by a panic report when I do. This happens when any games or videos are played online.

I am using OS X v.10.6.8. Everything is update.
Does anyone know what I may need to do to fix this?

The panic report usually mentions something about the CPU being unresponsive. If that helps at all.

Perhaps if you posted the particulars of your macbook, i.e. age, amount of ram, as well as the text of the panic it would give us more to go on. There are many things that can cause a panic and any little piece of information can point to a cause.

As a first go I would refresh the system with the combo update (I know you are up to date but this is often a good way to refresh a system)

If that doesn't cure it, and if you have a Time Machine backup then I would recommend a clean install of 10.6

And how hot is it getting in NY? If its happening all of a sudden in a heat wave - then an over hot CPU may be a factor

Well, it took me a while to get back here, but I am still having trouble with this. In fact, it just happened twice to me within the past hour. I installed the combo update and no change.

My macbook is about 6 years old. OS X version 10.6.8 Processor 1.83 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, Memory 2 GB 667 Mhz DDr2 SDRAM
