iPad cuts off

Sometimes my iPad cuts off while I am in an app. The screen goes blank and then the apple appears. Is anyone else having this problem or know what is wrong?

There could be a number of reasons why this is happening.

I've heard of iPads that react badly to being in hot climates in direct sunlight for prolonged periods. As that describes a big chunk of the US at the moment, could that be playing a role?

Basically I suspect either it is overheating, or there is a mechanical defect. What did the Apple store or dealer say when you took it in for testing?

What iPad, is it new, old, up to date? What version of the iOS are you running? Jailbroken? Apps from Cydia?

Yea i also heard of the high temp contol ipad but this is in the ipad 2.. it shuts down when it's left in the sun light
