Ok, forgive me for asking something that has been answered here a thousand times. I go thru looking and I don't see the same question or at least I don't see it asked in a way I understand. I am a autobody tech by trade and can change the rear quarters, trunk floor and frame rails on a 2012 Mercedes S550 without batting an eye, piece of cake. But this computer stuff I struggle with.

I have an old 8mm camcorder with a pile of tapes I would like to convert to digital and burn some DVD's for my kids. I bought an RCA to USB adapter and found that my MAC doesn't recognize it (at least I don't think so because it doesn't know it's there and does nothing).


I have had iMovie so I assuming if I can get the video over and converted into a file that my MAC understands I can then get iMovie again and do something with it.
What is the software I need to convert it to digital?
