For those of you who are using WINE and have updated OS X to Mountain Lion, you probably found out by now that WINE will no longer work. Why? Well, simply because Apple decided to remove X11 from Mountain Lion.
That's the bad news. The good news is that the system will offer to take you to an Apple KB article which has a link to an X11 substitute: "XQuartz 2.7.2" which is an open source project. It's a free download and works just as well as the original X11. So, if you need to run WINE or need X11 and have updated to Mountain Lion, be sure to download "XQuartz 2.7.2" from here.
