Trackpad issues in Windows 8 (SUBJECT UPDATED)

I am looking to install Windows 8 Release Preview on my iMac but have run into some issues.

In Bootcamp Assistant, the first screen is supposed to give me the option to create an install disk, but the option doesn't appear for some reason. I don't mean it's greyed out, it isn't there at all. As a result I am unable to create a bootable disk. Anyone know what the problem is?

I have an early 2008 iMac (8,1) that was recently upgraded to Mountain Lion.

The screen gives you the option to download drivers and burn to a CD/DVD. Can't help with 8 Preview or otherwise however under Windows 7 with Download version it was necessary to burn the .iso to a DVD in Disk Utility.

I actually tried that, but for some reason am having problems burning DVDs. It keeps giving some error; I can't remember the words exactly but it is something about how I should try a better quality disc or burn at a slower speed. I'm using Imation, so don't think quality is an issue and I've tried burning at 2x (the slowest option) but to no avail. It seems to burn CDs just fine.

Maybe I have a bad batch of DVDs? Anyway, I'm going to buy a new single DVD and try with that one.

Thanks for the reply.

Okay, so I bought some new DVDs and was able to burn them without issue. Seems the problem was with my existing DVDs.

I've partitioned and installed Windows 8 RP successfully. Now, though, the OS starts with a screen where Windows asks me to 'personalize' my PC. However, neither my wireless keyboard nor my Magic Trackpad appear to work in the environment.

This is strange, considering they both actually worked fine during the Windows setup procedures itself. But they are giving issues now in the actual OS.

Any ideas?

Okay, I'm almost there.

I managed to burn the ISO to a disk. Apparently there was, indeed, something wrong with my previous batch of DVDs. The new one burned the image without incident.

I have now installed and setup Windows 8 on my iMac. I have also successfully run Boot Camp drivers from the disk and it went off without a hitch. I had to buy a USB keyboard/mouse until I could run the setup, though.

My Apple Wireless Keyboard seems to be working fine now, but I still have an issue with my Trackpad. I added the device in Windows, and it kinda works. At least, I am able to move the cursor around and stuff so it is detecting the input. For some reason, though, Windows refuses to recognise any button presses on the Trackpad. No left-click, no right-click.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

P.S. I would like to update the title of the thread to reflect the fact that the original issue was resolved and I now have a related but different query. How do I do that?
