App Store Problems

I wanted to upgrade my 2011 Macbook pro to OSX Lion the other day, so I went to go and open up the App Store (which I have never used before) and it said: "You can't open the application App Store because it may be damaged or incomplete"

The only time I have ever encountered this message is when I clicked on a disc image but the actual application was deleted, but I have never touched the app store, and I know for a fact that I never deleted it.

Does anybody know of any way I can possibly "re-download" the App store? and before anybody says to upgrade the software, I have tried that and it says that there is no available software update. I am on version 10.6.8

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you

I have seen this problem before. You need to download and run the Combo Updater for 10.6.8. That should fix the problem.
