New Mac won't save history

Just got my mac not too long ago and now the history deletes every time I shut it off or even put it to sleep. The one thing that bothers me the most is that it doesn't save the websites I have typed in so i have to type out www.ect.... almost every single time i want to visit a web page. thanks, any help is appreciated

Try moving the file 'com.apple.safari.plist' from Home/Library/Preferences/

If that doesn't help - try all the files in Home/Library/Safari/ whilst also checking the read/write permissions on that Folder - the user should have read/write ability.
