My iPod, 4th generation, will not connect to internet through home router. My 1st generation iPod will connect to internet through router? I tried using the same IP address and Subnet as the old iPod has but it still does not connect?

I suspect your router is using WEP for security rather than WPA. Can you check this first?
I'd leave your iPod settings completely on automatic. You'll end up in knots trying to re-use an existing IP
