Hi guys, something is wrong with my macbook air. Earlier today I think accidentally deleted an important file and now no programs wont open that have been downloaded and unzipped. I'm guessing it's something wrong with archive utility, but I have no idea.

Which browser are you using to download with? Safari for example, gives a warning about applications downloaded from the internet and asks if you wish to open it.

I'm using google chrome. I just tried to open safari and it just gave me the error message "Safari cannot be opened because of a problem." On some applications I get this but on others I just get no response. Google chrome is all that will open for me right now.

You might try downloading the combo updater for whatever OS you are running and install that. That might re-install whatever file was deleted.
