I have a Macbook Pro 6,2 and am connecting it to a TV via mDP to HDMI cable.

When I go to Preferences > Sound, the only possible selection for output is Internal Speakers.

I then went to Audio Midi Setup, and HDMI does not appear on the list, only Built-in Output.

Is anyone aware of a problem that would cause HDMI audio not to be listed?

The HDMI option should automatically appear when connected to the TV via HDMI. It doesn't appear until you plug it in though. Is the video working via HDMI?

Way... way too many specs to list.
if the TV, or cable, is not VESA compliant.. there will be no TV in your audio options.
