Hi,
I think my headphone port on my Mac Mini has stopped working, but not sure how to test it for sure.
I've plugged both headphones and speakers into it and they fail to work on the Mini, yet work fine with my iPod. Instead, the sound only comes out of the Mini's internal speaker.
I hear the usual feedback sound as I insert and remove the jack from the socket (though I guess that could just be static instead of a hint of any audio data?)
It was working fine yesterday. I leave the speakers permanently plugged in so there shouldn't be any dirt in the socket.
The Sound option in System Prefs only has Internal Speakers listed under output.
I'm assuming it's a hardware thing - it's almost like a wire has come loose inside. Anyone know an easy way to tell where the issue is? And if it's fixable? I got the Mini in 2007 so I guess it's getting pretty old now - something had to go wrong sooner or later...
Thanks,
Derek
