My old Dell Monitor has died and have a replacement Dell Monitor E173FPc to hook-up to my Mac PowerPC G4 Silver but I'm going from DVI to VGA.

Got an adapter and hooked it up (DVI cord to VGA adapter to VGA on the Dell Monitor) and the Dell reads "in sleep mode. move mouse or type any key to wake." but when I do nothing happens. Stuck in sleep mode.

Can someone help me?

I think they work better if its VGA (G4) to DVI (Dell)

Thanks.

Unfortunately, as you probably know, the Mac Power PC G4 is only DVI. And the Dell is only VGA.

My other Dell monitor had both so it worked fine...

That's odd, my G4 quicksilver has DVI and VGA on the card

Anyhow, which of these is the DVI end of the cable

You need the second one down DVD-I, yours sends out a digital signal that the VGA input is not recognising

Thanks. There's that connection on the back of the PC. I'll see if I can get another cable...
