I can't retrieve new mail on my macbook

Dear all,

My name is Levina.. I am new user of Macbook Air..
I have already set the mail account for my office mail, it worked for 2 days, i can send and receive all emails..

After 2 days, it seems that i can't retrieve some new emails.. Do you know how to solve it? the progress bar is moving like incoming 1 from 246 mails but nothing happens..

Could you help me?

2017 27" iMac, 10.5" iPad Pro, iPhone 8, iPhone 11, iPhone 12 Mini, Numerous iPods, Monterey
Are you using an ISP or does your office have its own mail server? You mentioned 246 messages; is that what's waiting to be downloaded? Because it sounds like the bottle neck is with your office mail not the Apple mail program.
