Hi,

I have a White MacBook 2.1 (late 2006), specs:
1.83 C2D T5600
2gb ram
60 gb hdd
GMA 950
I know it can run lion, but i don't know if it will run SMOOTH.
So thats my question, if needed for better performance, i can give it 3 gigs ram and 120 gb hdd
I use this notebook daily, and for now its still usable with Mac OS X Snow Leopard.
Is there a big change in speed and will my GMA be able to run lion?

Thanks in advance

It'll run Lion OK. Don't expect stellar performance, however. Lion really needs a minimum of 2 GB, preferably 4 GB to run at a decent pace. The Intel GMA 950 will be OK for most graphics, but again don't expect great performance.

I ran Lion on an early C2D 2008 MacBook with 4 GB and an Intel GMA X3100. It was fine for most things, but when I got back on my 2011 iMac, it was no contest. :)

I ran Lion on an early C2D 2008 MacBook with 4 GB and an Intel GMA X3100.
I had the same machine (with 4GB of RAM as well) and it began to show it age relatively quickly once I started installing and using applications on a regular basis. As such, I'd say that its possible but you might see yourself getting frustrated with the experience once you start using it.

I installed it, and i have to say, it really boots slower, and its a bit slower in use. first, when i upgraded, it was very slow so i did a clean install, and now it good, but still slower boot. I'm only using it for one day so i don't know if it wil stay stable, but if it doesn 't, i will install SL again, but right now its OK! And i like the new features!
