rename batch files

Use Automator which is Workflow Application that comes with Mac OS X.
It has that functionality built in with the "Rename Finder Files" command.
It is worth checking into.
Here is a link to a MacLife article explaining how to do it, and it is not that hard.

Once you create the workflow you will always have it to reuse again.
If you do not want to create it you maybe able to find a "download" of the "Rename Workflow".
