I was trying to install boot camp to my imac 10.5.8 but it failed. It said that the files couldn't be moved. I found out that I had to use the installation disc that came with the mac. However, I lost my installation disc. Could i upgrade to 10.6 and use the 10.6 installation disc instead?

Yes, that would be my recommendation. I would also do a clean install of 10.6, since it seems that you've got an issue with fragmentation (which is why it fails with the error about not being able to move files).

Subject of course to you having an Intel machine. Snow Leopard will not install on a PowerPC such as G5's.
