RAM Loss

Hello everyone, I have noticed OS X is using more RAM than it used to, when I say this I mean, when I ran Snow on my old 2006 MB it used around 300mb with nothing running after a restart. Now I'm using at least 1gb with lion on my late 2011 MBP. I'm thinking launchpad is causing this because it has to use RAM to display the icons kind of like it would with stuff stored on the desktop. Is my theory correct? is there a way to disable launchpad so I no longer have this issue? Thanks

What does your Activity Monitor tell you? Launchpad shouldn't be drawing any resources at all.

You're comparing "Apples & Oranges" here. You're comparing a 2006 MacBook running 10.6...with a 2011 MacBook Pro running 10.7.

System requirements for:

- 10.7 require 2gig of ram
- 10.6 require 1gig of ram

So it's very possible Lion simply has a higher "base" requirement for ram.

I didn't think of that Thanks for the help, looks like I need to save for a RAM upgrade lol.

What do you have at the moment...4gig of ram? If you want to go to 8gig...that only costs $50-$60...so you shouldn't have to save too long!
