2012 Mac book pro white screen

Greetings. I am new to Mac and to this forum. I am communicating via my IPhone as my Mac is apparently locked up with a white screen. I am not a techie, just a business owner so please understand that I may not be down with some Mac lingo.

How do I get my Mac back? Many thanks!

Did it just go white, or does it boot up to a white screen? I have you held down the power button to do a simple reboot?

I called a friend who works in Silicon Valley and he instructed me to do just what you suggested. I did so and all is well. Simple thing, and I did push the power button a few times, previously but I did not hold it down.

Thanks for taking the time to provide an answer. If I had not first called a friend your post would have been the cure.
