Hello, my 12.5 years old Ethernet Epson stylus color 850 just died peacefully. Have used it without difficulty for that duration (first appletalk, then though various routes talking IP), all that on many computers.

Among the things I know I want for the replacement printer is:

  • I want it to be more than simply USB (means either Ethernet or wireless);
  • I want it to last 10 happy years;
  • If at all possible, I would like consumables to be less expensive than those expensive 3-color and black cartridges of my friendly Epson 850.

I have a router, an Airport base station configured as bridge distributing IP addresses and even an old hub for wired connections (routine I believe). Various macs (some of them quite old) and PC's hang around, mainly connecting wirelessly.

Any suggestions ?

TIA :D:D:D

Summary: Ordered today a printer AirPrint HP Photosmart 5510 e-All-in-One. Inkjet with 4 separate cartridges, prints wirelessly (including using an ipad and else) and cheap. Wonder if it will last 10 years.

Cheers. ;D
