I recently installed a xt hybrid HD in my macbookpro. I just did a clone of my old HD. I ended up with no Recovery Partition. Is there anyway to add this back? Can you get it back by doing a clean install?

What software did you use to clone the old HD? As far as I'm aware, only Carbon Copy Cloner will clone the Recovery Partition. As far as getting the Recovery Partition back, I suspect you will have to reinstall Lion or do another clone of the old hard drive but this time use CCC. ($20 for a license.)

I did use ccc. I may have deleted the recovery partition myself prior to using ccc. Ohh I remember. I had been dual booting linux. I deleted the linux partitions with gparted and I thought the recovery partition was a linux partition. So my bad. Guess I will have to do a clean install of Mountain Lion.

Actually, you can live without the Recovery Partition if you made a Lion boot disk the first time you installed Lion, or you can use the Lion Recover Disk Assistant.

Download from Apple here.
