The video on that page does not even show the so called issue but shows an iPhone catching on fire in a pocket of a kid. Wonder if it's FUD?

Like Dennis said, pure FUD. A small iPhone catching on fire is not going to emit that much smoke anyway. Notice the kid didn't even jump around from his hot pants! ;P

I'm not sure what that has to do with anything. What does it matter where the researcher was located? You're making an awfully large generalization about a nation here.

if it is showing up in the app store, I'm sure its been in the google play store aka android market for quite a while now, android is very common to get malware since it is open source....

That's got nothing to do with the open source nature of Android and more to do with the lack of regulation relative to the iOS App Store.
