I have a Unibody White Macbook (NOT the Pro) and it has been getting very hot recently, I was wondering if anyone with a unibody macbook could suggest any cooling pads to use that are effective. I've heard that some people have bought them and they haven't effected the heat at all.

Ventilation is key. Anything that improves ventilation will help.
In my personal experience (where I use my 17" MBP with an external display on a desktop surface)...simply elevating the MBP 1"-2" off the desktop surface with whatever I have laying around...drastically decreases the fan rpm's.
Laptop temps. don't seem to decrease a whole lot...but fan rpm's (and noise) drastically decrease.
