I'm going to buy my dad a flask for xmas and get it engraved with an inside joke kind of thing. Should I get pewter or stainless steel? I don't know what the difference is so far as flasks. Any guys help me out?

If you are getting an engraving you have to get steel, since as far as I know.. you're not going to be able to get anything engraved on a pewter flask. When I used to drink, I liked pewter.. I have a really sweet flash from Scotland that I purchased while I was there.. it's still a great decoration :)

Pewter use to be made of tin and lead which would certainly alter the taste somewhat and maybe turn him completely nuts but then the alcohol could have that effect as well.

I'd go for stainless steel as it is very 'hip' at late. :headphone

Pewter is completely safe, you see pewter mugs, pewter flasks etc, since the lining is not pewter where the alcohol is, it's been treated and no risk at all :)

What with all the rules and regs these days i didn't actually think that pewter would be of any danger unless it's antique, it was just a funny thought.
