Virus possibility on my Mac email account

I just opened an email from a known friend with whom I exchange scores of email monthly.
The heading said I am going on a Canute trip. Why don.nt you join me
Immediately the screen went blank and a beeping began. Two beeps followed by a silence, then repeated,
What does this mean?
I cannot fire up my Mac book pro.
