Internet sharing button disabled

THe internet sharing is disabled, can someone tell me whats wrong and how to enable.

Are you connected to a router or modem by ethernet?

i am connected to the internet via a router, but use WI-fi or Ethernet as situation permits

Internet sharing is for sharing internet to other computers via wi-fi when you have an ethernet connection. Is this what you mean?

so when i am connected to Ethernet and trying to share the connection on wi-fi, as shown in the first post the option does not get enabled to select.
