Any idea what to do next?

VLC gives me this message when I try to play an AVI. movie...

main: no suitable decoder module for fourcc `IV50'.
VLC probably does not support this sound or video format.


Any ideas what this actually means (in terms a total noob can understand) and what media player might work instead? Thanks.

"IV50 is the four character code for Intel Indeo Video 5.x, also available
from the Intel Web site. IV50 is used by Indeo 5.0, 5.06, and 5.10."
