My iPad has ~20 GB of info (Books, Photos, etc).
How can I get all these data into the Library of iTunes ? I don't want to loose any of my data.

You can use iPhoto for your photos and the rest can be backed up using itunes and that should be all that you have to do. You can also use icloud if you like.

I am not sure what you mean by "backing up" in this context. The data flow is only from iMAC (iTunes) to ==> iPad but not from iPAD to ==> iMAC.
My iMAC has an empty iTUNE library (it is a new iMAC). Syncing my iPAD to this library would wipe out all my iPAD info.
One of the reason why I bought an iMAC was my misconception that APPLE would have designed their product in such a way to permit data transfer between their various products without any hassle. This turned out to be a neg 10 and a + 10 for the PC.
Am I missing something here?????
Could icloud accomplish it ???? I am clueless how I would do this.

The new iMAC has no knowledge of what is on my iPAD. The App-store has only knowledge of items that came from the app-store to my iPAD (via my previously used PC).
Movies,Videos, etc that are currently on my iPAD would be wiped out if I try to sync my new iMAC with my iPAD. Plese read my previous post again.

I'll break it down simpler for you then. on your iMac, launch iTunes. then, choose store, sign in. use the same apple id you used to download your iPad content and it will go on your iMac.

Thanks for the Link. I have no problems with the apps that support file sharing.
But let us be specific and deal with one item at a time. I have a large collection of music files on my iPAD. Most of these files did not come from the iTune store. The iMac library on the iMAC does not know of these music files. In fact this library is still empty as far as music is concerned. Syncing the iMAC with my IPAD will distroy all my music files.
So what is the best way to get all these music files into my iMAC ?

OK, I understand your situation now. I had to do the same thing with personal recordings. The following application (iPad to iTunes) is not free ($30.45) but will do the job.

Thanks for the info. I was glad to find someone who finally understood my problem. I purchased this software and was able to transfer my music files to the iTune library on my iMAC.
It is annoying that a third party software supplier is needed to accomplish such a basic task.

I understand your frustration John, but Apple has their reasons for not allowing it to work both ways out of the box. I suppose most of it has to do with the draconian DRM laws we have here in the US.

Anyway, I'm glad to hear that "iPad to iTunes" worked for you.

Also, for future reference, Mac and Pad are not acronyms for anything and thus don't need to be capitalised. Just iMac and iPad.

Glad it's all sorted out and hope you enjoy your iPad as much as I do!
