I have a 15" MacBook Pro with Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard bought new last February. I dropped a snow globe on the the bottom. I have determined the drop ruined the hard drive. I had an old hard drive from my other Windows laptop which I formatted and have been trying to use the Snow Leopard v10.6 disk to install the OS with no luck. When I boot the laptop up and hold "C" nothing happens. When I boot it up and hold down the Option key it shows the OS disk. After I select the OS it just sets at a grey screen with the Apple logo.
(I know the hardware is all good because I was able to install Windows 7 on the same hard drive after I formatted it to make sure the laptop/HD was for sure good. I have now re-formatted it and still have the same problem)
