Wipe computer without original OSX discs?

I recently sold my MacBook Pro (2006) and the person I sold it to is having trouble wiping it. The computer came with Tiger but I've apparently misplaced my start discs and she believes it's impossible to wipe the HD if you don't use the original discs.

My questions:
  1. Is it possible to wipe without the original OS discs?
  2. If not, can I use someone else's OSX Tiger discs or would they have to be the exact ones that came with the computer?
  3. If I can't find the discs at the end of the day and I can't use someone else's, what suggestions might you offer for rectifying the problem?

Thank you!

They could buy retail snow leopard disks and do it§ that way

Tiger and leopard disks are more expensive on the second hand market, but you can still get Snow leopard from Apple or even cheaper on ebay

You can't use another machines restore disks unless they are the exact same model
