Memory card won't read

My SDHC-card won't read on my MacBook Pro anymore.
I used the same memory card today on the same computer, but when I removed it I did it without safely removing it.
Could that have anything to do with it, or do you think I just need to format my memory card?

Formating it did not help, I tried...
I also checked if the card was locked, but it wasn't.
HELP?!

did your card work in a camera ? if not your card is bad.
if yes, try to import your pics from camera to mbp, see how it works.
if pics can be imported to mbp, then try to insert to mbp, see how it works.
Do you have another card to insert to mbp ? see how it works.

I was able to import pictures from my camera. I also tried inserting another card, but it would'nt work with that one either, so I guess there's something wrong with my reader then?

Is there anything I can do about that?
