mac desktop playing up

Hi, our Mac desktop has begun to come up with a message "USB OVER CURRENT DEVICE NOTICE, A USB device is currently drawing too much power. The hub to which it is attached will be de-activated." And our keyboard will not work. The 'over current' notice appears even when there are no USB devices plugged in at all. Can you tell us what is going on here?
