• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

I have movies (mov. extension) who are made on mac.
When I play the movies on pc, I have only sound but no image.

I'm looking for a codec who can solve my problem and give me also image and not only sound.

Info: JVC HDV 720P50.

Thanks for helping me!

What's the model number of the camcorder?

How did you get the video from the camcorder onto your Mac?

I didn't make the video's myself.
I'dont now the model number of the camcorder, it's a professional camcorder.

The movies are original files of a party a professional guy captured for me with a JVC camcorder. I only know, he works on mac.

Any idea?

Thanks!

My instinct would be to go back to the person who created them and ask which format was used.

Failing that you can start by installing the latest version of Quicktime.

If that doesn't work you can try the klite basic codec pack.

Failing that try playing them in VLC

the last version of quicktime was not the solution, but with the k'lite codec my problem was solved.

Thank you!
