Without warning my laptop touchpad and mouse started having a mind of it's own today. The pointer randomly scanned the screen making its own choices. First it was the touchpad. I looked up suggestions online and removed the battery. That did not work. I plugged in an external mouse which worked for about 10 minutes then started dong the same thing. I am running on AC Power only right now. Battery is still out and power cord in. About 10 minutes ago 6 downloads popped up on my screen so I loaded them. It is acting better but still allows mouse cursor to float wherever it wants. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Check the mouse/trackpad section of the Universal Access preference pane to make sure everything is the way you like it. Doubt that is the cause of the problem but it is something to rule out.
