Just purchased the new iPad and am wondering how can I import the data from the bookmarks.html file from my iMac browser into Safari? I have the file on the iPad using Dropbox.

Thanks.

I don't have my iPad in front of me at the moment but I don't think there is a function to import import bookmarks on that version of Safari. If I remember correctly the following should get your Safari bookmarks onto the iPad:

1. On your Mac open the iCloud System preference pane and check items you want to sync (bookmarks is one option). Make sure your account information is correct.

2. On the iPad go to General>Mail, Contacts, Calendars, and select your iCloud account.

3. Turn on items you want to sync (bookmarks will be one choice). On the next sync bookmarks should come over as well.

If you want to adjust the timing this is done with the fetch new data settings but a change affects the schedule for all data. AFAIK you can't have one schedule for one type of data and a different schedule for everything else.

I don't know a way of doing it using an HTML export but . . .

You can sync your bookmarks via iTunes (look in the info panel when you have the iPad connected).

You can, if you have Lion, sync them via iCloud.

Lost

With all due respect, I'm totally lost here.

Don't have Lion as my iMac is two years old - maybe slightly less - and the upgrade for Snow Leopard is not released yet.

No luck at all using iTunes, which is probably operator error (me).

The iPad offers alot, but IMO could be better. This being one example and the difficulty of printing another.

You are seeing that in iTunes because you have your bookmarks syncing to iCloud on your iPad.

On your iPad go to Settings - iCloud and set bookmarks to Off.

Now connect your iPad to iTunes and you should see a different option are per the infoSlydude posted.

Once that's sorted let us know what print issues you're facing

Followed your directions and the bookmarks are installed and working fine.

Thank you for the much needed assistance.

As far as the printing issues go, it will take a few days before I have some time to work on that as the rest of the weekend is very busy and I'm on the road the first part of next week.

Thanks again for your assistance!!
