It's a minor problem to be sure. But it bothers me to no end. When I boot up my MBP (Lion 10.7.4) the Finder program/app opens. I realize not closing applications properly will result in the same result. So I close them correctly (Command + Q), Why and how can I stop Finder from opening on boot up?

Thanks

Finder will always run on startup (you'll always see the little blue indicator in the dock) it's part of the OSX core.

But if the Finder Window is open on your desktop everytime that's a Lion feature. When you shutdown untick the "reopen windows when logging back in" box on the shutdown window.

Yes, I've done the "reopen windows when logging back in" box on the shutdown window thing. That's not it. Oh well, not a big thing. Just a niggling bit of annoyance.

Thanks

Actually if it is a Finder window that is annoying you unchecking "reopen windows" isn't going to fix that. For as long as I can remember the Finder has put those types of windows however you left them when you shut down. If you don't want that open when you restart close the window before shutting down.
