Hi,

Bought a few weeks ago an iMac 21,5 " and until now I'm very happy with it, BUT today I tried to copy a downloaded file (in the download folder) to my External Hard Drive with the use of copy and paste. I could copy the file on Macintosh HD and went in Finder to my External HD, right click to see the Paste possibilty, but there was no Paste available. The question, HOW CAN I COPY A FILE FROM MY Macintosh HD TO MY EXTERNAL DRIVE ???

So long as it's not formatted with NTFS, yes.

Natively OSX can read/write FAT32 and HFS but can only READ NTFS.

I suspect that's your problem.
