Connecting computers together for printer?

Hi!
I should probably admit first that I know half of nothing about computers and this is probably the most idiotic question in the history of the universe, but right. Is it possible for me to connect my MacBook to my mum's iMac in the next room in order to use the printer that's plugged into her computer?

You need to turn on printer sharing on her iMac, that way any computer on your home network can print to that printer.

Its in  menu > System preferences > Sharing
