MacBook 13 won't go on

I was wondering if anyone can help. I have a MacBook about 3 years old and it won't go on. The battery ran down and when I put the plug in the light doesn't go on. I bought a new plug and it still doesn't go on. Where the power supply connect to the MacBook the outer corner of the case has came off

2017 15" MBP, 16gig ram, 1TB SSD, OS 10.15
Maybe you needed a new battery...not a new power adapter.
