can anyone unlock my new rokr cell phone?

I just bought a rokr cell phone off someone off craigslist, but its locked to cingular, and im still under a att contract. Even though att is owned by cingular now, it wont recognize my att sim. Is there anyone that works for cingular, or just knows about unlocking phones to help me do this ? it would be greatly appriciated! i can provide my number, emei (i think thats it) number, or anything else, thanks

You will have to call Cingular. They are the only ones who can release it and set it up for your account.

or find someone that can do it for you as Cingular might not do it as im not too sure what they are like in the states.

Well, having worked for ATT Wireless in the past, the only ones who can unlock it are the original service carriers. Since Cingular and ATT Wireless merged, that would be Cingular... and Cingular was the original carrier anyway. They may be able to get it work with your account still. Your best bet is to just call them.
