Can I burn Bluray discs with my MBP?

I have a MBP I bought in 2009. It has a 3.06 GHz processor and Im running Mac OS X 10.7.3

I want to burn some Bluray discs. Can i do that with this computer?

Your MBP doesn't have a Blu-Ray capable drive...so the only way to burn Blu-Ray discs with a MBP is with an external Blu-Ray drive such as these:

does the quality of the software affect the quality of the disc? i imagine there are many options, and id likely choose the cheapest/simplest for simplicity's sake.
