Who is Jim Dalrymple and why should I care what he says?

Macrumors is buzzing with comments on the article about Mac Pro stock being pulled from Apple Retail Store locations. Among these is affirmation from many that the Mac Pro definitely won't be discontinued because some guy named Jim Dalrymple said it won't. Is there any reason this guy's word should be taken over that of some sketchy rag like DigiTimes? It seems that he's been right about a couple of things in the past, but not a whole lot beyond that and at least two of those look like they were fairly obvious at the time. Can anyone more in the know tell me what I'm missing here?
