I'm trying to connect a 27" Apple display to my 27" iMac using an extension cable. I've tried several different extension cables, but none of them work, and I've gone through three different ones now. No problem when I connect the display to the iMac without the extension cable. Is there some sort of setting in the computer I need to tweak? The monitor is a Thunderbolt Display if that matters. Thank you!

Thank you so much for responding to my question. I have since found out a few things. I spoke with an Apple Care specialist and asked if I could use the cable you suggested to connect the Thunderbolt display to my iMac - therefore not using the cable that extends from the back of the display that is intended to be connected to the iMac. He said no, that that wouldn't work, although I am tempted to purchase the cable and find out for myself. He also said that at this time, with Thunderbolt being so new and only Apple manufacturing Thunderbolt devices, no company has yet made Thunderbolt extension cables.

I thank you again for taking the time to respond.
