I know it is possible to share out a drive. Is there a networkable BD-RE drive out there, that would just let me have a drive out on the network and read/burn to and from it?
Right now I have a portable slim BD drive so I can archive gigantic files.

Hmm, just wondering what kind of bandwidth that would require. as you know, BR files are pretty massive. Might be a verrrryyy slow process to read and write to.

I'm not sure if there are any that are directly networkable. Maybe it would work if you connected the drive to one of the computers on the network and enabled CD/DVD sharing from the Sharing preference pane.

Good point. Even with a gigabit ethernet it would be slow as balls.
Scratch that idea.

I'll file that idea where it belongs - in the same place as my old ICD-CD rom I found in a box of college!

What about an LTO-4 drive? I'm looking to archive a horrendous amount of data, which includes tens of gigs of AVCHD video.
My theory is to have a networked LTO-4 (5?) drive that I can backup to. Rather than lug around the drive with a USB cable.
