I need to update the list of various logon IDs and passwords on my desktop, IPad and IPhone. Is there any way to temporarily make the passwords visible, i.e., not showing up as dots in the box.?

You should be able to on you Mac in Keychain.

/Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access.app
In keychain access you can click on the password.. then select "show password" (which is a check box). It will ask you for your administrative password.. then you'll see the password in clear text.

Not sure about IOS Devices they could be backed up in there as well.

HTH

Cheers
